Professor Helen Bryant graduated with a biochemistry degree from the University of Glasgow and did a PhD at the MRC-University of Glasgow Centre for Virus Research. After a postdoc at the Ludwig Institute for Cancer Research, she moved to the University of Sheffield first as a RCUK research fellow and the as a lecturer in cancer biology. She was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2013 and Professor of Cancer Therapeutics in 2024. She has worked in the area of genome biology for 25 years. Her lab aims to understand cellular responses to DNA damage including radiation induced damage, in order to develop novel methods of improving radiotherapy response. They are particularly focused on the use of DNA repair or cell cycle checkpoint inhibitors.
