Professor Chris Talbot graduated from Imperial College London and did a PhD while in Washington University, St Louis. After a postdoc at the Wellcome Trust Centre for Human Genetics in Oxford, Professor Talbot got a lectureship in the Department of Genetics at the University of Leicester in 2001. He was promoted to Senior Lecturer in 2016 and Professor of Radiotherapy Genetics in 2023. He has been working in radiation research since 2007, initially through collaborations with Dr Mark Plumb and Prof Paul Symonds. His group is trying to build predictive models for radiotherapy side effects, including genetic and clinical factors, particularly in breast cancer patients. Prof Talbot was deputy co-ordinator of the REQUITE project and is scientific co-ordinator of the PRE-ACT project.
